About The Hall of Fame

The purpose of the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame is to honor those men and women who have played a major role in the growth and development of senior softball, one of the great sports of the United States.

National Senior Softball Hall of Fame

Presidents Message

The National Senior Softball Hall of Fame was established to honor those senior men and women who have excelled at playing the senior game and/or have given so much to the development of the sport in the United States. Unlike most Halls of Fame who only induct individuals after they are no longer an active player, the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame honors active participants after they have reached noteworthy level of accompishment in the sport. Seniors are encouraged to participate regardless of age and today there are teams playing in the 80 and over age division.

The Hall of Fame was founded by Herb Oliver from Chattanooga, TN who was the Executive Director of the Softball Players Association. The first senior players to be enshrined were inducted in 1996 at Dayton, OH. Today there are 147 seniors in the Hall of Fame. Players are honored for their achievement while playing in any of the eight approved National softball associations.

We currently have a search committee working to find a suitable location for a permanent museum to house the Hall of Fame and further honor the men and women who have played such an important role in organizing and establishing senior softball as the great sport it is today in the United States. As you browse through this site you will find individuals from all walks of life. Some come from distinguished civilian and military careers, some are famous and others could be your neighbor next door. But they all share one common thing... a love and excitement for the game of softball. They understand one simple truth: you only grow old when you stop playing.
